How we learn

The way your child learns may be quite different to how you learnt at school!  At Clarborough Primary School we make sure our Teachers keep up to date with the latest developments in teaching and learning, as we endorse the concept that  ‘children learn effectively if when they acquire new information or a new skill - they change or adapt it in some way’. (Magenta Principles, Mike Hughes 2014).

This is what your child may tell you about their learning:

"I often work with my ‘Talk Partner’.  We share our ideas; plan our work; and think about our learning together.  This helps us both.  My Talk Partner might be different in Maths, English and topic.  We change partners regularly and they’re chosen randomly.”

"We are encouraged to be good learners, including being resilient; finding links and connections; adapting to change; being curious; and being creative to solve problems.”

"I know that it’s OK if I make a mistake in my work.  If I got everything right, that would probably mean the work was too easy for me anyway!”

The Curriculum

We endeavour to provide our pupils with a broad and balanced curriculum that is relevant to their needs.  We know how important it is to equip children with English and Maths skills.  These skills are reinforced and cross curricular links made throughout our curriculum where appropriate.

Further information regarding how we meet the National curriculum requirements can be found on the following pages on our website:
