Physical Education (PE)

At Clarborough Primary School we believe that Physical Education can make a significant contribution to a child’s emotional, intellectual and personal development; particularly their self-esteem.

All pupils have timetabled PE lessons each week through which we develop the six areas of activity as set out in the National Curriculum:

  • Dance
  • Games
  • Gymnastics
  • Athletics
  • Outdoor and Adventurous activities and
  • Swimming.

Pupils are given the opportunity to swim during Key Stage 2 (year 3 to 6) and we aim for all pupils leaving the school to be able to swim at least 25m.  All pupils also have the opportunity to complete the National Cycling Proficiency scheme in Key Stage 2.

The P.E. lessons that our pupils take part in, provide a variety of sports ranging from football, tag rugby, netball and hockey to athletics, rounders and dance.

In addition we offer Extra Curricular Sport activities, which include weekly After school PE clubs.  We have sourced professional coaches in order to meet demand, which include rugby provided by Doncaster Knights Rugby Club and Dance classes by De Bernays School of Dance.

Please use your child's class newsletter to find out what they are learning about each half term.
